Yes, watch as Obama walks within feet of us (Two Feet Away From Obama). While this seemingly unreal video seems professional, it was taken by the Sherwinator as Obama walked right in front of us. We were in the 3rd row during a rally for Corzine in which Obama spoke . He spent nearly 30 minutes talking about the economy first and health care second. The fact that he was there for Corzine was kind of an afterthought. He mentioned Corzine a few times but that was it. However, that was not a problem. People didn’t even know Corzine was going to be there according to a broadcast on the radio as the event was ending. The college student was quoted as saying “Corzine? I didn’t even know he was going to be here? I’m just here to see Obama!”
So what was seeing Obama like? The most unbelievable experience in the world. I felt like he did not need even need a microphone to broadcast to the entire crowd of 17,000+. He could have just stood there and orated. He took off his jacket and Corzine, like a bitch, took it and hung it on the railing. Obama mentioned Corzine a few times but basically spoke about his own agenda of the economy and healthcare. He also managed to tie in how it affected New Jersey specifically and also some praise for Corzine in providing “the first economic stimulus package by a state” in the country. (I have no idea what he is talking about.)
Obama spoke with great emotion and emphasis and knew exactly what he was trying to say. He delivered his speech with great passion and emphasis. It was unlike anything I have experienced before. He really is a great orator; this can be witnessed on TV but cannot truly be experienced until you see him face to face. During his speech, we were 30 feet away from him. The applause from the crowd was overwhelming at times.
Overall, it was the best experience of my life seeing the first African-American President in front of me, live.
