Despite the ongoing statements between Iran, the USA and the EU, Iran still “test-fired” two missiles yesterday during the communications over its nuclear weapons program. Not only was it just during the communications over its nuclear weapons program, it was also on the eve of Yom Kippur, one of the holiest days of the Jewish religion.

This was a clear act of symbolic defiance by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad confirming his constant insistence on abolishing Israel from the world. It is also on the eve of a gathering of leading nations to talk about how to deal with the nuclear weapons program. So how much more symbolic could this be? This is yet another one of Iran’s acts of defiances against the “Satan” of the west, the US.

In fact, this couldn’t be more scripted itself. Ahmadinejad has done this time after time again in defiance against the West when it was at a convenient time for him. It is almost expected at this point. It is sort of like the boy who cried wolf. If it wasn’t reported on with such intensity, it would almost be forgotten. The media should focus less on Iran’s whining and more on important facts. When we report on it, we are only doing Ahmadinejad a favor.
