The Kodak Zi8 is an amazing piece of technology. The Zi8 is a palm size video recording device with an orgy of features that rival many higher end cameras.
For around $180, (you probably can find it cheaper, especially during Black Friday) you get a video camera that records in 1080p. I’m not lying…1080p! For the youtube generation, this device is as utilitarian as it comes. It records great quality video, has a line in jack, which enables you to attach your own high end mic if you so please, removable batteries, and an sd card slot that is capable of handling up to 32gb.
Would I use this video camera for the recording of a wedding? No. Would I use this video camera to record my friends doing stupid shit on a Friday night? Yes. If you put up a hilarious video on youtube that goes viral, the camera might pay for itself very quickly. Or….no one will watch a 2 minute of your friends doing the spoonful of cinnamon challenge besides you. Either way, it’s a win, win.
