Friday night ended the short lived, 7 month old, Conan O’Brien hosted “Tonight Show.” I think all of these shenanigans between Conan, Jay Leno, and NBC, made Conan go crazy, and hence, he became even funnier.
Conan through in jabs to NBC as much as he possibly could. He couldn’t be thrown off of the air, so he did what he wanted. He also had a series of bits where he bought things not because they were to be used in an actually funny bit, but because they were “crazy expensive.”
First he bought a Bugatti Veyron. He dressed it up as a mouse. The Veyron sells for around $1.5 million, that is, if you can actually find one. But the bit didn’t end there. Conan also played the original master recording of The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction,” which would cost a fortune for NBC to get the rights to when airing the episode.
The next episode, he purchased “Mine That Bird,” the 2009 Kentucky Derby winner. He didn’t stop there either. Conan, is a compassionate being, and thought that a traditional horse blanket might not keep Mine That Bird warm enough. So he bought him a mink snuggie. And to top it off, Mine That Bird wanted to watch some television, so Conan put on for him some restricted NFL Superbowl footage. Excellent. Total cost to NBC: $4.8 million.
Lastly, Conan purchased from the Smithsonian, an extremely old set of fossils from a gigantic ground sloth. He had the ground sloth spray balooga caviar onto an original Picasso. Total cost to NBC: $65 million.
After this bit, Conan admitted that these weren’t real. People were getting mad online that he was wasting money, so he felt the need to tell the audience that it was all fake.
It was sad seeing Conan go. As he said, he’s been working with NBC for 20 years now, and it’s unbelievable that they would try to do this shit to him after only 7 months. Jay Leno is a slime ball. I had no beef with him before, but now…..Don’t even get me started.
The last few episodes had some great guests. Tom Hanks, Adam Sandler, Neil Young, Will Ferrell, Steve Carrell. They all love Conan. It was amazing to see all of the support he received.
I truly hope that Conan comes back in September on another network and destroys, I mean destroys, Jay Leno. Until then….

I don’t get it. How was the Veyron a fake? Or was it a rental?
