The Mets are at it again. Jose Reyes is allegedly healthy once, and for all. This being the Mets, Jose’s appearnce of yesterday brought more questions with it. Jose is rehabbing on his own, and the Met training staff only seems to be involved in a sort of half ass Met way. Kevin Kiernan’s column raises a lot of new questions.
In October the Mets announced that Jose had some scar tissue removed from behind his right knee. Kiernan says that the operation involved the removal of the so called unneeded hamstring tendon. This tendon was supposed to have been rehabbed or healed on it’s own. Why was Jose’s torn hamstring not repaired? Did Reyes actually have scar tissue removed from the back of his knee? Is his hamstring structually sound? Do the Mets’ trainers and Jose’s communicate with one another on a regular basis? DOES REYES HAVE ANY FAITH IN THE TEAM’S MEDICAL STAFF?
J.J. Putz pitched for the Mets last year. He had a horrible 2008, when he was plagued by floating elbow chips. Did the team examine him before consumating the deal? Did the team officials tell Putz to downplay his injury to the mass media? Why was he allowed to go on Joe and Evan’s show and blatantly lie? Upon hearing his falsehoods did Omar issue a correction or an apology?
Do the members of the fourth estate feel that they have a duty to keep the public informed about what is transpiring? Why do the writers of the New York Post act as PR men for the Mets? Is Kelvin Escobar really going to be a big addition to the team?
