24 Season 8 Episode 11 was a 2 headed beast. The first half of the episode was G-d awful. But the 2nd half picked up in terms of the story and what we’ve all been missing, action.
Marcos, the half IRK half American terrorist, who barricaded himself in some pressurized chamber (with a homemade explosive), begins the episode trying to manually re-arm his vest. Jack and CTU try everything to get him to stop and come out, but nothing seems to be working. After delving into his background, they find out that his mom lives up in Harlem. Jack summons for her, in an attempt to get her to talk him out of blowing himself up (and Jack also wants information about the nuclear rods).
During the episode we see President Hassan’s daughter, Kayla, and his former head of security Taran waiting it out in a hotel room. And by waiting it out, I mean getting it on! Kayla really trusts this guy. Taran has told Kayla that he has a lawyer contact that will help them get asylum. Probably not going to happen….
After having Marcos’ mother try to talk him out of blowing himself up, Jack realizes that almost nothing will stop him. So Jack tells Marcos that if blows himself up, he’s going to make sure to bring Marcos’ mother to the terrorist bomb site post explosion so she’ll get radiation poison and die. This causes Marcos to rethink his position. He eventually comes out. However, the IRK terrorists were watching this whole event break down on a closed circuit camera line, and since the vest was now re-armed, they could manually override it and set it off. Once the terrorists do that, Jack tries to defuse the bomb himself. He only had 60 seconds and couldn’t get the job done. He got Marcos to tell him that Taran was the one organizing this attack.Marcos then exploded. It looked pretty crazy.
President Hassan’s wife was able to get in touch with Kayla, and told her that they had proof that Taran was the leader. She at first didn’t believe it, but then broke down, and gave her mother the address of where they are. That’s where we left off.
24 Season 8 Episode 11 was pretty decent overall. One note though, the Dana Walsh story line is so bad that I chose not to include it in this review. You’re missing nothing.
