The Hurt Locker was simply amazing. I saw it months ago with my father in an independent movie theater in Red Bank, NJ. The movie was a very honest depiction of the current conflicts and involvement of the United States Army in the middle east.
The Hurt Locker is a film about a bomb squad team stationed in Iraq. It is a more realistic film than Jarhead, but similar. It was cast with low budget actors who gave it everything they got. You really saw how hard the war is on human beings’ and the toll it takes on your sanity.
The special effects for a low budget movie were great. The explosives looked extremely realistic and possible. Some of the action sequences were outstanding. There’s one scene where one of the film’s main character’s has to snipe an entire team of insurgents. It’s kill or be killed. The focus that these guys have is out of control.
And let’s not forget about their bomb diffusing skills. They are often able to disable highly sophisticated IED’s in only a few minutes. If their hand slips, or if time runs out, many people will die. These guys have ice in their veins.
The movie also shows you why we shouldn’t be in Iraq. No one wants us there. We are creating more extremists than there were before. It is an un-winnable war and will only cost this country more lives. Maybe this movie will cause people to rethink the current war on terror.
