Welcome to New York Mr. Tomlinson. You are the newest member of the ground and pound offense that led the NFL in rushing last season. Yes Thomas Jones and his 1,400 yards, yes we do not know if Leon Washington will ever be the same again, and yes, we do not know if Shonn Greene is the real deal, but we’re hoping that you can contribute positively towards our cause: Winning the Super Bowl.
Personally, I think that this whole deal is a mistake. I didn’t think Thomas Jones should be the lead ball carrier this upcoming season. I thought we should draft another running back or pray that Leon is alright, and run the three headed monster that the Giants did two seasons ago. Instead, the Jets cheaped out, and didn’t want to pay TJ his much deserved bonus. Instead, they got LT, who is at this point in his career worse than TJ, and somehow, are managing to pay him basically the same salary for 2 years. Logical? No. New York Jets football and management? YES.
I pray to G-d that LT resembles at least 1/10 of what he used to be in his prime. Last year, with a mediocre line, he ran for substandard yards and a pedestrian 3.3 yards/carry (unacceptable). I hope that the Jets dominant O-line will help him run the ball better and find more holes.
Evan Roberts this morning had an interesting thought. He believes that the Jets signed LT possibly to make more money via jersey sales. Would I put this past Woody and crew? Nope.
Either way, we have LT. We have to make the best of it. Let’s hope for the best. J-E-T-S-JETS-JETS-JETS!!!!
