Dodgers’ Kershaw and Torre Both Suspended

If any of you watched last night’s Dodgers game, you’ll know why I’m so disgusted today. The Dodgers as of late have found new ways to creatively lose on a daily basis. Click below to read more about why Clayton Kershaw and Joe Torre have been suspended.

The Dodgers went from being one of the hottest teams in the major leagues, to one of the worst. They look terribly flat. The NL West isn’t the best division in terms of talent, but it’s one of the most competitive in the MLB. San Francisco, San Diego, and Colorado all are contenders. That puts the Dodgers in a tough spot. And last night made me feel a lot less confident about the Dodgers making the post-season this year.

After two Dodgers’ batters were hit last night, Kershaw retaliated not just once, but twice. Kershaw was frustrated. He gave up only one run in 5 innings, and was up 5-1 when he beaned the San Francisco hitter. Kershaw was then immediately ejected. And in the process, Joe Torre ended up getting ejected too shortly after.

Enter the 9th inning. Don Mattingly is managing for the Dodgers now. Broxton is in to close out the game. The overrated Broxton gives up a single right off the bat. Mattingly comes out to cool down the closer. As Mattingly starts to return to the bench, Loney calls him back to ask about a shift. Bruce Bochy runs out and yells at the umps that Broxton has to leave the game pursuant to some archaic MLB rule. The umps listen to him, and remove Broxton.

Who do the Dodgers call in? None other than my mortal enemy, George Sherrill. The stiff comes in and right away gives up a monstrous double. Long story short, the Dodgers lose 7-5. Unbelievable.

After the game, Torre and Kershaw were both suspended. Both suspensions are being appealed.

Today, ESPN reviewed the cited MLB law, and stated that once again, the umps botched the call. Broxton wasn’t required to leave. The umps were required to eject Mattingly, but of course, they didn’t, and in the process, cost the Dodgers another game.

The Dodgers are killing me with this terrible play.

What are your thoughts about the Dodgers, NL West, and or the MLB at this point in the season?
