Motorola Droid X Review

Well I finally did it. After months of deliberation, I finally purchased a smart-phone device. My choice: The brand spanking new Motorola Droid X with Google Android. Holy sh*t. This thing is out of control amazing. Click below to read more of my Motorola Droid X review.

First, let me get this out of the way. I was able to locate the device at a Sam’s Club near my house. My sister purchased her Blackberry Tour at this authorized reseller, so I thought I would have no problems. For the most part, everything went great. That is until I got home and realized there was no micro-sd card in the phone…..I’ll be going back tomorrow to ask for one / demand one…..

But back to the review. The device is blazing fast. 99% of the time there is virtually no lag when transitioning between screens, applications, or landscape/horizontal orientations. The 3G antenna seems to pick up  significantly better reception then my old phone, wifi works flawlessly, and even the GPS  service is out of this world.

Call quality has to be the best of any device that I’ve ever used. The phone has 3 noise cancelling microphones. People on the other end of my calls were able to hear the difference. The regular speaker, as well as the speakerphone, is extremely loud, crisp, and articulate.

In terms of applications (“apps”)…..I’ve already downloaded about 30 of them, and they are all on par with the iTunes apps, if not better. The download and installation process is a breeze.

The video playback is breathtaking. The huge screen allows for crystal clear pictures. The 8mp camera and 720p video camera are better than my $300 camera (albeit it is 3 years old now).

Web browsing is practically the same as if you were on a tablet. Wow…..this thing is huge, in a good way. I virtually had no mis-taps, as everything I clicked on was quick and responsive. Even the keyboard is marvelous on this device. The auto-correct feature has to be one of the best designs and implementation on any phone ever.

I’ve only had the phone for 4 hours now so I will write a follow-up review in the next few days after running some performance and diagnostic tests. Stay tuned.
