What do we know about The Event so far? After 6 episodes in season 1, we know quite a bit, including some of the back story. h\However there are a lot of questions left unanswered. What happened in tonight’s episode, Loyalty? What did we learn? Keep reading my review and recap to find out.
So the insider, Simon, the alien who is really working with the FBI or secret service, was in love with a human in the past, sometime in the 1950s. Then Thomas walked in and our insider looked upset. So at some point, he was released or set free from the crash landing. Or maybe he escaped. Thomas is following him again in the next flashback. He wants to make Simon leave. But our insider doesn’t want to leave. Thomas makes him leave the girl he was in love with to go back to the people, or something. Kinda dick of him. Now, back in the present, he is going to get caught, since he wouldn’t let the other guy radiation test him. Bad move.
However, we still don’t know what Sean or Leila are. What is Sean’s role? How does he know so much and how is he so involved? Other than being his daughter, what is her role? How did she get involved?
The guy they captured tells Leila to blame his father. That he brought all of this on himself. But who is her father? Not literally; he was piloting the plane. But who is he in the greater scheme of things? Why did he bring this upon himself?
Why did the aliens land on Earth in the first place? Were they fleeing from something? Persecution?
At this point, Sean wants Leila to go somewhere and stay safe. He has to go clear his name. But she doesn’t want to be “protected” and kept safe; she wants to find what happened with her family. Sean steals the car and leaves the FBI agent there with the guy. This I do not understand. Why would they leave her with that guy when she risked her life to work with them? And to trust and believe Sean? They head back to her house to look for evidence. They find all this weird paperwork and files hidden in the attic about the Alaska base that was found. All of a sudden they see someone walking up behind them with a gun and … commercial!
So Simon is going to leave the good guys. Sucks, because I don’t know whose side he is really on. Another flashback happens and he sees the girl he had left when he was in the 1950s. That’s kind of sad.
Simon tries to warn Thomas to leave again. Thomas says he has a contingency plan, which I unfortunately think is another weapon. I also have a feeling Thomas is going to kill Sophia. Not sure how these two are related but they are.
So Leila and Sean are ambushed by some blonde with a gun but she is really familiar to me. What other show is she in? Oh, Caprica. She is Madylyn and she used to be a journalist… until she saw the light and the truth. She already seems psycho. Oh, they managed to wrangle the gun from her. She is talking about some kind of conspiracy. Leila’s father saw the Anastranka facility and contacted her about something she wrote online. Apparently he knew something.
So in 1944, an aircraft crashed. The government imprisoned the survivors in Anastranka in that facility. They are “EBEs” or extra terrestrial biological entities, or aliens for the idiots out there.
Thomas is making the building collapse or something but claims there is nothing he can do. We get another flashback of Simon with that woman that he saw on the street who is now an old woman. This is pretty sad. Why are they showing us this?
Sophia is begging Simon to follow her before the building completely collapses. Simon tries to run back out to help the FBI agents leaving when some sort of portal opens to something underground. This is really screwed up. They can’t keep covering this sh*t up. Simon is bringing tw o injured FBI agnets back, trying to fight against the crazy force field when he gets trapped under a shelf. He keeps telling them to just go as the building is collapsing all around them. A ton of bricks falls on top of him as the building just collapses completely. Is he dead? Probably not yet. Left in the wake of the building is just residue.
So what did this episode answer? What did it introduce? Sean’s father knew about this secret military base with the aliens. What else does he know? What did you think?
