Stomach Virus Going Around the Northeast

There has been a bad stomach virus going around the Northeast, especially Philadelphia. Its been rampant amongst young adults and has been disabling, causing plenty of people to feel so badly that they can’t even work. What are the symptoms? Why is this stomach virus going around the Northeast?

So far, the virus causes nausea and vomiting which last throughout the first 24 hours. Also, it can cause nausea and diarrhea, an interesting combination. Afterwards, you get diffuse aching and pains in your muscles and joints throughout your body which last all of the rest of 24 hours.

Afterwards, you still feel weak for two to three days afterwards as your body recooperates after its losses. The key is to keep drinking fluids, but it doesn’t work well with all the nausea that you are suffering from at the same time.

If you feel better in a couple of days, then that is the key. If not, then you should probably be evaluated by your doctor. It feels awful, like you have the flu, but worse. The aches are debilitating and left me on the couch all day today.

Have you gotten this? Where do you live? Let me know.

  1. Brooklyn reporting in. So glad to find this site, I wasn’t sure what’s been going on either. Started with major bloatation after a dinner out, then felt feverish and achy with stomach discomfort and hints but luckily for me (feel bad for all of you), no nausea. Felt like it was starting to finally go away 3 days later, then last week massive pressure and discomfort in the lower abdomen resumed. Went to doc a few days after that – no signs of anything wrong and NO MENTION of something going around! But lots of tests sent out.

Concerned that I forgot to mention lower right front abdomen area panging, I asked, and was told if fever increased and feeling of nausea increased to go to the hospital for possible appendicitis. Took a nap and of course – woke-up in a sweating fever, extremely dizzy and stomach out of sorts. Being a single female living alone, I decided to go to the hospital for some reassurance, will take doc 6 days to get other tests back. Wasn’t appendicitis (though based on symptoms docs feared it might be – note everyone, apparently that lower appendix area will be in acutely sensitive pain if it’s operable appendicitis.) Doctors had noticed my stomach was incredibly tight and thought I was protecting it when they went to poke, also listened with a stethoscope and heard nothing – hypoactive. They said was highly unusual.

Been trying to recover all weekend. Stomach knots better today after soaking in a hot/warm bath yesterday and eating soups and such, and drinking a lot of water, but still there. Tummy is still swollen, severe bouts of dizziness too, some heart palpitations – hoping this goes away soon!

    • Hi, Nicole…I had the whole stomach/abdomen rigamole just like you! All the details were spot-on! I’m very happy to find I was far from alone here (though that phase is FINALLY going away…slowly, but it took up 2 MONTHS!) This virus seems to be hitting “average-aged” women (25-45) the hardest with that particular symptom (I’m 33)

    • I’ve had this stomach bug for over a month – off & on. The migraines with it are off the charts, too. My husband has also experienced it and it took him over 2 wks. to finally get rid of the cramps, nausea, etc. I have had mostly bad cramping and bowels all messed up for weeks off and on. I know many, many people that are going through this and the doctors here say it’s epidemic. A really bad bug! I’ve had appendix out so I don’t need any tests to confirm that it’s not that, but others have had all these expensive tests and what gets me is that these docs all KNOW that this bug is around with all the people in and out of the ER, why do all these tests for the SAME symptoms? A waste of time. BTW, I’m in PA near Philly.

      • I’ve been to a GI, the emergency room and my primary doctor. My primary and GI both have an attitude that I’m either a drama queen or plain nuts. Neither seem too interested in helping figure it out and it seems neither of them have seen many people complaining of the same thing.

Raw sewage backed-up into my apartment (in the bathtub) 3 times in 6 weeks. I rent, and had a plumber out here everytime. The sewer pipes merge in my apartment (bottom floor). And they had to run an electric snake through the pipes everytime. Some mucky water got on the floor and of course got trekked through the apt thanks to the people doing the work not minding what they were doing. I tried to clean-up well behind them. But I also clean with things like Meyers, which I do not think has disenfectants. I was told not worry about it, but I am wondering if this is the cause of my being sick. Both doctors think I’m nuts. But from what I’ve read online posted by remedial companies, norovirus, giardia, and a few others are contractable from cleaning-up raw sewage and they advise not to do it yourself if it happens in your home.

After much haranguing of doctors, one finally called a stool test in for me. My primary would not! We’ll see what the outcome is.

I’m still not fully better, but heading into week 3, I’m at least functioning again. I’m also taking “Digest Gold” by Enzymedica WITH probiotics. I completely feel the difference when I take it, and when it’s time to take another. I highly recommend it! I’ve also found that drinking green ginger tea at the onset of cramping, helps minimize the discomfort.

Appreciate comparing notes with you guys. Keep checking-in! And get well soon everyone, spring is coming!

        Nicole

        • Thanx for the “Digest Gold” by Enzymedica WITH probiotics suggestion!! Works like a charm and worth the price. I also love the green ginger tea. Hope we all feel better FAST!!

          • Betsy,

I also have now been using Goldenseal. It supposedly kills parasites like Giardia. I feel a difference, not sure if you want to try it for what you’re experiencing? The dosage is 2 tablespoons per day. I warn you, it’s potent. If you mix it with just an inch high of cranberry juice in a glass, it’s manageable.

I’ve been doing half a tablespoon at a time.

            Wishing everyone the best!

    • I put my symptoms in search and found this site and now I know I am not going crazy. I am on day 5 of this and I must admit this is the craziest stomach bug I have ever had. My grandson got sick a few weeks ago and threw up but went away..My daughter started vomiting badly lasted 24 hours and she had fatigue and nausea but hers also went away after 3 days..I on the other hand felt sick in my stomach woke up early am threw up but very little but I got a headache and felt like a truck hit me..next day I felt ok then wham next day I felt so bloated and uncomfortabe that I swear I felt like I ate a full course dinner 10x’s over. Now I am left with bloating, fullness and belching no matter what I put in my stomach. I feel like someone pumped me full of air that is how uncomfortable I feel Now I have decided to take an antibiotic that I had in the cabinet and see if this helps..I ironically have a GI appt on Tues for acid reflux issues that have totally gotten worse with this virus so hopefully he will have some answers about what the hell this is. I also feel like someone zapped every ounce of energy from my body. Thanks for everyone making me feel like I am not going crazy.

  2. Odd, Im a 40yr man. Mine started about 3 weeks ago, bloating, beltching and feeling like throwing up. The worst thing is, I feel great during the day ! as soon as night comes on,it starts all over agian..

      • Carl,

I’m so sorry to hear that! I had trouble sleeping through the night too and used a water bottle filled with warm water (heating pad of some sort will probably work too), and the “Digest Gold” by Enzymedica WITH probiotics – you should be able to get that at a health food store. And try drinking green ginger tea – I’ve found it stops cramps from hitting that most painful point, if I’m drinking it when they set-in.

Hope you feel better soon too!

  3. Marie,

Just seeing your comment now. Sounds like you know several others who’ve had this as well? Wow, I can’t wait 2 months, suppose no one can, but I have a major trip at the end of March. Did you see doctors? Did anyone recommend things to help ease the symptoms in the meantime?

Some daytimes I feel like I’m about to kick it. Then night comes and I just want to go to sleep and the cramps return full force, though they seem to weakening some – now in weak 3, dare I say.

BTW – A friend suggested filling a bottle with warm water and putting it on my stomach. It helps some.

The worst are the stomach cramps that spread across the middle of my midsection and are so sharp. It was starting to work its way up my esophagus and cause coughing that seemed to be irritating everything even more. I’ve worked to control the cough for the past day and at least the top of my stomach that touches my esophagus at the bottom of my lungs is feeling better.

I’m also wondering if I need to disinfect my entire home. Anyone have thoughts on that based on their experience?

    • to Nicole…thanks so much for reading and responding! I haven’t been to the doctor, and I refuse to go…I KNOW they won’t help me, I have been slowly getting better, less pain than last 2 weeks, but still periods of gut gassiness…here’s a good tip, try eating foods flavored with ginger, had some leftover ginger/molasses soft cookies from the holidays, they seemed to magically (though temporarily) help reduce the farty-ness! I’ll try ginger tea and see how that works

  4. hey guys im not a dr. but sounds like more then a virus if syptomns r lasting past a week. sometimes these stomach bugs bring out other conditions such as ibs or chrons. def go to a dr stress also makes a stomach bug more painful! feel better :)

    • Hey Halley,

We’re talking about Norovirus (and in my case possibly Giardia), our symptoms match the virus which does last several weeks, this is not a matter of triggering something else in the system. A few of us have already been to the doctor to no avail. If it’s something that concerns you, I highly recommend the wealth of commentary and shared experience in the comments throughout this blog. They have been a saving grace in a time when modern medicinal doctors have had no idea and have been unwilling to think beyond the traditional western ideas of what could be wrong.

      • Nicole – You are positively correct! My husband and I have had the same thing back and forth so how is that something other than this disgusting Noro virus? My stomach is fine now, but I have persistent headaches and body aches from this – does anyone else have those? I had this last summer and my doctor said that severe headaches do come with it and I get migraines anyway so this really compounds the problem. I also have an anti-nausea drug, as well. That got me through the worst of it and I never actually threw up. The name of the drug is Zofran and it is a miracle drug. My doctor sees alot of this bug so he’s very sympathetic. I also have anti-spasmodics for the bowel cramps, but at one point, they were so severe that nothing helped. Hope everyone gets better soon!

  5. GUYS I wanted to tell you that I had some antibiotics left over and gave it to my son. 2 to 3 hours later he was better. it is some kind of infection in your stomach. Doctors are reluctant to give antibiotics out due to it makes it tougher to get rid of stuff when you take them when you don’t need them. But if you can get some antibiotics this will clear up fast

    • Thanks for the suggestion Debbie, my doctor had given me an anti-biotic just incase I had a bladder infection. It didn’t do anything after the first day so I stopped taking it once the test came-up negative for that. Would be great if that worked though!

  6. Got it. very mild but bothersome. gas, upset stomach, nausea, weak, slight fever, felt good for a day then came back. Love the cold sore it gave me too. I hate being mildly sick, it’s like having your hands tied. feel better everyone!

  7. I have stomach cramps so bad that I couldn’t sleep last night and a pinging pain in the lower right hand side of my stomach and very very tired. no fever. thanks for posting everyone. i am sure this is what i am experiencing. Just got over a month long episode of being dizzy with fever coming and going. two or three weeks and now the stomach thing.

  8. Hi Guys ,
I’m from Nova scotia Canada and I have been suffering from something similar , does anyone have stomach pains on the left side of the stomach ? Just feeling like my tummy is upset lot’s of gurgling on that side , almost feels like your gonna have diarrehea but don’t ? Sometimes it goes for a bit and then comes back ? This has happened for about 3 weeks now and almost feels like its getting worse than better for some reason…

  9. No stomach pain but mild low grade fever for days, extreme weakness and aching joints, aches in muscles in random places, headaches (which i never get), ringing in ears. Feel ‘hungover’ or ‘brain-fog’ also.
It has been going on a while, it went away, then came back. That worried me so I went to clinic. They are testing for Lyme. I suspected mold toxicity (fighting a mold problem in house) or (at worst) leukemia (I feel THAT bad) but white blood count is ‘normal’.
My housemate did have a 24 hour bug last week with vomiting and terrible stomach pain…could I have the same virus but not stomach pain? I do have a very strong system generally and rarely vomit. Would feel much better knowing it is a passing virus.
I have never felt this weak. I am very fit, eat mostly raw, healthy foods, hike several times a week. With this I feel like a crippled 90 year old.

  10. Hey Robin,

This thing seems to hit the digestive track as its primary symptom. It does sound like you might have something else. Your symptoms remind me of mono or what little I know of lymes. Trust me, you don’t want this. Four weeks later and I’m still having sharp gut twisting sensations in my stomach and doctors can’t seem to help. At least with the others you know what you’re getting and they can prescribe something.

    Best of luck

  11. I had a nasty stomach bug that started on February 27th. It started out as a feeling of fullness in my stomach and then heaved up my guts and sat on the toilet with diahrrea for six days. It wouldn’t go away. I would try to lie down afterwards only to find myself getting up to do it all over again. Finally went to the doctor and got some pills to stop the diahrrea. Started feeling better the seventh day and had my appetite back on the 8th. However, I am still having symptoms of it and it doesn’t want to go away. Mine has been triggered by anything I eat.

  12. My6mo old is on day5of this horrible virus.Besides pedialyte….does Any1have any more advice,I’m a1st x mom&feel so helpless

  13. This virus began for my daughter and me with a burning in sinuses and itchy, dry eyes. Then the stomach bloating and nausea and diarrhea for one night, then the stomach bloat/cramping all day for four days, then the lower back tightness and pain moving up the spine making upper back pain and head pain and an occasional migraine. This virus involved fatigue requiring naps and brain fog and strange irritability, perhaps from restless sleep. I have had 3 repeats in two months of this sequence of symptoms and so has my daughter. I posted this sequence of symptoms on facebook and got lots of replies and calls saying people were glad to know others had it and it might just be a virus. Most of us could walk through the repeats but not the first onslaught. The Young Living Thieves oil rubbed on the spine all the way to the head and then lying on a heating pad or getting into a hot bath did the most for the muscle pain and head pain and worked quickly. Peppermint oil on the stomach temporarily helped the cramping for half an hour and then I reapplied it. Ginger tea made with slices of fresh ginger simmered for ten minutes helped the cramping quite a bit. So does the old-fashioned jello cure where you make jello (or use knox gelatin) with only half the water required and spoon it down as soon as it is dissolved. Nothing helped the fatigue which has been colossal.
After three hits of this thing I am finally feeling back to normal and I am really relieved. The repeats are so depressing. My daughter just called to say she is on round 4. Unbelievable. She teaches full time and I don’ t know how on earth she has managed. She has slept every chance she has gotten to lie down. She also uses the Thieves to relieve the back pain and peppermint oil allowed her to stand and teach. Jello and ginger have helped her, too.

  14. I guess u understand….I posted tht comment&HAD2make it VERYVERY short.Actually last wed.I had an episode of diarrhea myself that came outta nowhere&I couldn’t even make it all the way to bathrm.(SO EMBARRASSING)But I thght it was because I took colace the day b4,but last night same thing only to my husband, then w me again this morning. But it was ONLY1x!My daughter is on day5.But now tht I think of it the begining of last wk my eyes&nose were like u said!Friday night I gave my daughter(Ava)Her last bottle w rice cereal…then4-5Hrs.later it all came up.but then she was happy, smiling ,NO fever@all so I thght ok tht was weird maybe she ate too much.Well by Sat.Morning I had vomit coming out of her2ft in the air.She still didn’t have a fever&after”AGAIN”Happy baby.a few hours later she was real lethargic so the dr said go to the er.We did, they were baffled@her behavior/no fever despite all tht was happening so gave her something for nausea&said only pedialyte for24hours.so Sun morn5am gave4oz formula&It was like I restarted it.Let me sum this up sorry,Mon.&Tues took her to dr.Only pedialyte&Still so much diarrhea!I feel like I’m starving my baby this is so terrible. But I didn’t even think about ginger or peppermint,or even jello….guess I was just in a straight panic.I definitely had 1st x mom written all over me.how much more can possibly come out of this lil tiny person….This is viscious..Again thank u

  15. Young adult, in massachusetts, and i Have this exact bug. started after dinner yesterday, Thought I must have eatin something bad. Pressure and discomfort in my stomach lead to vomiting all night, couldn’t even keep water down. Slept most of the day today, just woke up with dull muscle pain all over. I hope it’s only a 24 hour thing… I start my new job next week!

  16. I woke up yesterday around 4 am and was completely hit with this overwhelming feeling of nausea and diarrhea which lasted constantly for 12 hours. I tried to hydrate the whole time even though it was next to impossible to keep anything down. I also had this pain inside my abdomen that was nothing that I had ever felt before. It was extremely sharp and would come and go in waves. I have been lying down for over 12 hours now and still have major stomach gurgling and diarrhea , but the nausea has subsided. I feel super achy in my lower back and very weak!! I m glad happened to stumble across this blog in a quest to self diagnose what is going on with me. I am a 35 year old female living outside of manhattan. I am curious to know if this virus or flu is contagious. If someone has the answer please advise. Hope to feel better soon!!

    • Hey Tina,

I’m in Bklyn, and got hit with this 5 weeks ago. It seems to be a virus and, at least my doctors, have no clue. All tests come back negative. Many on this blog think it’s norovirus.

      Wish you a speedy recovery,
      Nicole

  17. 5 weeks later and round 2. My symptoms never completely left. Stomach cramping and abdomen pressure remained. But I woke-up this morning with the runs, severe cramping and thought I might get nauseous this time around. So far escaped the latter, just dry heaves so far. But all the other symptoms are back – dizzy, achy/chills, tummy cramping, headache, runs. Anyone else have this happen? Have it for a long period and seemingly relapse?

    Cheers,
    Nicole

    • Alls I can say is THIS IS DEFINITELY HANDS DOWN THE WORST VIRUS I’VE EVER COME ACROSS MY WHOLE LIFE!I only had a lil taste of it too for1day.But my daughter,(She’s 6mos)7Long days&no food allowed:(I felt horrible!felt like I was starving my baby. But she was in hosp&@dr.s3xs after so 4outta5days we were at the dr.But u cannot build up an immunity against this even after uve had it.I heard it can go back&forth over&over&over in 1household.&flu shots aren’t protecting, nor disinfectants! From what I’ve exp.heard&read, the vomiting lasts from2-24hours then it moves to the other end.Just keep washing hands, don’t share ANYTHING W ANY1!&if u do get thi u will be thirstier than ever just trust me&sip sip sip.do NOT guzzle fluids.but go on a clear diet&stay in bed w I trash can/bucket handy. It is not fun&I don’t wish this on my worst enemy!this is pure liquid evilall in one&it lasts for what seems an eternity&comes so suprisingly out of nowhere…….just hope u don’t get this .

      • Im in Central Indiana and I have been fighting this for 4 days now…1st day I had the pukes and diarrhea then that night started with a 102.2 fever..I am 47 btw…2nd day still diarrhea and nausea but fever broke, 3rd day thought I was feelin better, but still so nauseated that Gatorade is my best friend because its all I can keep down..woke up this morning feeling better I thought, til I decided to go to the grocery, had to come home and be sick…I have dropped 10 lbs in 4 days..am so weak that its a chore to walk across the room, but Food…YUK just staying hydrated and hoping it leaves soon!!!have taken Immodium, and also a prescribed nausea medicine…but its still there…

    • A definate YES in my case! 3 months for me, it’s just so discouraging! I DO have 2-3 good days in between, then a bunch of so-so days, then 1-2 crap days, about twice in a month…I been much less painful THIS month, but I get periods where the lower right hand corner of my belly is being “squeezed” touching that area (and sleeping on that side) makes me fart, the “squeezing” sensation sometimes shifts to the right hand side of the upper back, just above waistline (kidney?) then my pee has an orange tint, I feel this will affect me as long as I live!

      • So odd Marie. My symptoms are similar but also different.

It seems to start with runs and fluish nature, then transitions into pressure in the lower abdomen, then cramping begins in the upper stomach area a sore/burning sensation, and then pushes up into my lungs, sometimes seeming to set-off my seasonal asthma so I use my inhaler, and I start to cough regularly. Then this transitions into the painful stomach cramping with cramping in random seeming nerves to the right and left of my stomach – those smaller cramps I can massage out. But the stomach cramping, if I run my fingers along the track from my stomach up through esophagus, there’s clearly tenderness in my upper stomach track. I do also get a panging in my lower right abdomen, but it is subtle compared to everything else going on. From time to time I feel something in my back, and I will get some seemingly useless burps.

Does any of this sound familiar to you?

I’m heading back to the doctor in two weeks. I’ll definitely share if I learn anything new on this!

  18. we have it right now… this is the second day now… it seems to be a one day kinda of virus.. we’re starting to feel better already.. yesterday it was a horror the runs every two seconds plus violent vomiting.. yuk… haven’t eaten anything since the day before..

  21. I’m not trying to be racist or xenophobic or anything, just truthful, but I’m seriously thinking this latest virus may have come from China, due to all the over-dependence from everything being manufactured and shipped from there, apparently the public-toilet situation is UNBELIEVABLY disgusting (check YouTube, public toilets, China) it’s STILL mostly third-world conditions, a shock considering how much money they make off us…there’s also the cruise-ship situation as well, anyway…

  22. I am writing “Again”on this because I’m just so baffled.&Feel terrible for any/all of every1who has gotten this.I CAN’T BELIEVE what its doing to people&how BAD it is!I mainly found this site when my daughter had it,but here to find, my husband&self had a lil taste of it1st&it just hit us differently. Now its been 2or3weeks since my lil girl had it,everything was fine then yesterday,I had hot&cold flashes&was So Dizzy I was seeing doubles.Felt like someone drugged me.&Stomach pain…..I can’t even find the words but no other symptoms. But like I said we have all “already”had it.I’ve seen a few others write tht they keep getting it too.idk I just can’t believe the intensity that comes w the symptoms of this horrible bug.Alls I can say is its pure evil…liquid Evil.Good luck to anyone who has been lucky not to get this.Hope u NEVER DO&To those who have it I HONESTLY HOPE U FEEL/GET BETTER FAST&soon.!!!I feel so bad because I know exactly how u feel!!!!My heart goes out to everyone.it does.Hopefully there will be a way to treat this too.

  23. I may be on to something here…while I’m not denying that there was one hell of a virus in the last 2 years, I’ve realized that I may have been doing something very preventable that helped exacerbate the symptoms, I’m specifically speaking to those who had this virus linger for months and had many relapses…people, are you DVD/computer addicts who have a habit of watching stuff on a portable DVD player or laptop computing in bed WITH THE ELECTRONIC DEVICE RESTING ON YOUR BODY? If you are, STOP IT! get the machine off your delicate vital organs and onto a table! preferably wooden, even if they’re not burning your skin and you think a bedspread is enough protection, it doesn’t take much excess heat and vibration that these machines produce to screw with any part of the GI tract, especially the liver! I know I was certainly doing that A LOT in the past year or so, I’m going to try banning all electronics off my body for a month and see if my digestive tract problems go away, albeit slow but sure…I’ll try this and report back with updates!

    • This is so true!! If you test the underside of you laptop, DVD player and/or other electronic devices that you rest on your lap or any part of your body – you will know there is a huge electromagnetic field/force there. You can either take my word for it or look for a tester on amazon.com…about $30 called EMF testers. I am not saying this is what is causing this virus since I already know the bad effects of EMF for myself and never put my devices anywhere on my body. I have this virus right now (which is how I found this post) and plan to post my symptoms when I finish reading more posts.

  24. Hey Marie,

Hope you’re starting to feel better.

One of the suspects on my list was Giardia. And I’m almost fairly certain that’s accurate. It’s parasite that people can contract through water, I think it relates back to the sewage backups for me.

But most doctors would never guess or believe someone in the U.S. would contract it here at home, despite about 3 million people in the U.S. getting the parasite every year. So for anyone who finds this blog later and has these symptoms perpetually, Giardia is something to check into. If it weren’t for a friend who had a fried who’s had it before, I never would have known about it.

It can apparently be eliminated from the body within a few days with the right form of penicillin, or possibly Goldenseal. I just need to convince a doctor to give me the penicillin. It’s very hard to catch via testing. So in the meantime, it’s Goldenseal!

    Best of luck!
    Nicole

  25. I am so glad to find this blog! I am 60 yrs old and I have never had anything like this stomach virus in my life!!! When I get the flu or a virus it is always the cold/bronchitis version. The nausea was the worse I have ever experienced. I had the bloating first and pressure/pain in my diaphragm and chest at the beginning of this week. The pain moved around and then I started with diarrhea and the nausea. Since I am not really familiar with these kinds of symptoms, the only reason I wasn’t terrified is that it kept moving around. Now on day 3, the cramping has slowed but my lower abdomen is sore & painful to touch…I have the jabbing pain in the right side around my appendix area too…feels like something is there twisting it. Mentally I am foggy, weepy and anxious. Just when I thought I might be getting over it, I got the brutal headache, chills, joint/body pains and coughing like the regular flu only without a sore throat or congestion (VERY weird!). I am on my 2nd day out sick from work since last night I had buttered toast to get something in my stomach and woke up with the whole nausea thingy starting all over again. My best remedy so far is chamomile with lavender tea (by a company called Traditional Medicinals) with honey ~ very soothing on my stomach and my nerves. This SUCKS :-/

  26. Today is day one of this horrible virus. My roommate and I both got hit the same night. He had vomiting and feels wiped out, I have the other end and all the same symptoms as described on this site: bloated stomach (like a beach ball), diarreha, burping, and general stomach cramps. Actually it feels as though someone punched me in the gut. At first we thought food poisoning but after reading this site, we’re sure it’s norovirus. We’re in south Jersey outside Philadelphia. Living currently on saltines, gatorade, and ginger ale. Wish us luck.

  27. My 63 year old mother caught the same thing from my 7 year old neice, who had vomit and fever for 24hrs. My mother went to Dr. Received antibiotics and was told she had virus and Vertigo.. Now my 17 year old daughter has fever, vomit, diarrhea and painful abdomen cramps..praying it only lasts 24 hrs.. Good luck everyone.. reporting from la, ca..

  29. my husband woke u last night w/awful vomiting. we were at an outlet mall yesterday and were around 100′s of people. I feel fine but he is just sick as a dog! i’ve never seen him this sick and he says he’s never had so much nauseau and vomiting in his life. the only thing he ate yesterday that I did not was sauercraut. could he have this stomache bug that everyone is talking about?

  30. I just came down with similar symptoms. I definitely picked this up at the Boston Marathon, since everyone I was with came down with it too. Thankfully, my symptoms have been mild…just vomiting, stomach pain, and a tiny bit of soreness, but my friends all have the full blown version everyone is describing here, including the severe headaches.

  31. Lancaster County PA – hit me Sunday at midnight, fever lasted until Tuesday morning. I was at Warwick High School Saturday afternoon for an event, and that’s the only public place I’ve been other than work.
